Poralu Marine is making a Seabin wave break over the ports in Europe

More than 50 ports and marinas are already equipped with Seabins! The French SME, Poralu Marine, which is supporting the development and industrialisation of this waste collector designed by an Australian start-up, is delighted to distribute this simple, disruptive technology, which falls within its environmental innovation approach.

In April 2018 Poralu Marine delivered the very first Seabins, floating waste collectors designed by the Australian start-up, Seabin Project. Poralu Marine is its exclusive industrial and commercial partner. The Seabin offers an innovative, ecological solution intended for harbour areas, private marinas, rivers and lakes.

With its remarkable efficiency it is conquering more and more ports committed to protecting the environment. During the pre-sales campaign 150 Seabins were sold throughout Europe, in more than 50 sites, sometimes very famous sites:

  • The City of Paris was equipped with it for the opening of Paris Plage.
  • Marseilles is progressively equipping its famous Vieux Port.
  • Venice received its first unit at the beginning of July.

The aim is 400 in the second year

The managers of these sites are surprised at the quantity of waste that the Seabin is capable of collecting… and unfortunately just as surprised by the quantity of both macro and micro plastic waste found in their waters. In fact the Seabin is able to recover any micro-waste larger than 2 mm. In this way numerous particles of micro-plastic are collected. Up until now this had been impossible with the traditional tools used by ports and marinas. Poralu Marine has shown itself to be especially attentive to continuous product improvement.

All systems are go for Poralu to be able to continue to support the developments of the Seabin start-up and its waste collector in new territories. Poralu is preparing to open the Asia and Oceania markets in the coming weeks and months. In the end each port must be able to remove all the key points where debris collects by equipping itself with Seabins.

“ Poralu Marine, the French industrialist and world leader in aluminium harbour facilities, is producing the Seabins in its workshops in Port, in the Ain Department of France, after bringing to fruition the various research and development phases required to create this highly innovative product”, commented Laurent Gasiglia, Managing Director of Poralu Marine. “This choice represents a fundamental development for the Poralu Marine group, increasingly positioned for the provision of new solutions to environmental challenges. “
